Why use homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a traditional form of medicine that harnesses the body’s healing power instead of merely suppressing the symptoms. It has been used worldwide for over 200 years. The homeopathic remedy messages the body’s innate healing capacity, supporting it to rebalance itself and return the individual to a state of optimal health.

Homeopathy is used by people of all ages for prevention, in acute situations as well as in chronic conditions. For instance, in the case of hay fever with symptoms of headaches and sore throat, one might take Sabadilla once a week for two to three weeks before the onset of the allergy season. In the event of seasonal flus and sudden change of weather, one may need an acute remedy such as Drosera to manage the cough symptoms. If it happens with the onset of a sore throat, Ferrum Phosphorus could help modulate the inflammation stage and provide relief. Other situations such as stepping on a nail or going to a dentist will also require acute or symptomatic remedies.

In the case of chronic conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, hypothyroidism, psoriasis, depression and the many other ailments associated with our modern lifestyle, the homeopathic remedy addresses a more global picture and will call for a constitutional remedy. A constitutional remedy is deeper in that it addresses the whole person, encompassing the physical, mental and emotional aspects. Symptomatic remedies could also be needed to manage the symptoms associated with these conditions.

Homeopathy has also been proven efficient in the event of epidemics and pandemics such as the Spanish Flu, Leptospirosis, influenza, cholera, and dengue fever, to name a few. During the flu epidemic of 1918-19, twenty million people died world-wide, including 548,000 in the United States. Dean W. A. Pearson of Philadelphia collected 26,795 cases of influenza treated by homoeopathic physicians with a mortality of 1.05%, while the average old school mortality was 30%. In Chicago, Doctor Frank Wieland reported that only one of the 8,000 workers from a plant treated with Gelsemium died during the epidemic.

The efficiency of any homeopathic remedy rests on its proper usage. With a pharmacopeia encompassing well over 8,000 homeopathic remedies, the choice of the right remedy must be left to a trained professional homeopath who will assess the symptoms and suggest the remedy that best matches them.

Homeopathy has a long history of applications in a wide range of contexts. Homeopathy is efficient and safe, cost effective, has few or no side effects, it is not addictive, and it can be combined advantageously with your medication. Homeopathy complements nicely all other healing arts, including conventional medicine.
